COVID-19 CHANGES

October 28, 2020 Dear Clients: We have always prioritized the safety of our Clientele, and in these uncertain times, this is no different. As we continue to carefully monitor the situation and impacts of COVID-19 on our community, we will be extending our temporary hold on face-to- face, in-person meetings, until further notice. We encourage you to stay safe and healthy; and while we continue to deliver on-going provision of services, we will do so virtually online via our website and video conferencing. Such alternative measures will help to provide ongoing counseling and support without risk to you and your families, as well as the VMC staff. As an additional note, please call ahead of time at (808) 538-8733 should you need to come by our office for any reason as we will not be taking any walk-ins during this time. We will continue to take proactive steps to ensure your health and wellbeing while continuing to provide vocational rehabilitation services; thus, limiting any disruption to services. We’re working diligently to adapt to the circumstances we’ve faced, together, while planning for the future. Our Clientele has always been the heart of our company, so we’re grateful to you and your ongoing support. Sincerely, Kirsten H. Yonamine, M.Ed., CRC, LMHC President & Laurie H. Hamano, M.Ed., CRC, LMHC Vice President
25Years
On the occasion of Vocational Management Consultants, Inc.’s 25th Anniversary, the members of our staff celebrate in unison as leaders in the field of vocational rehabilitation. Grounded in our traditional roots of serving Hawai’i’s injured workers’, we stand together as we “ride the waves” of our changing world. What began as a small business created in 1995, has now evolved into a strong pillar of support to members of the Hawai’i community. Rooted in vision of, “Find It, Plan It, Own It, and Do It,” VMC remains committed to providing quality services that empower our Clients with hope and confidence, leading the way to their own success. Every year, we celebrate the people we serve through the art of Kintsuji. Kintsuji is a Japanese art of putting broken pieces of pottery back together with gold—the cracks in the pottery representing the flaws and imperfections we have as people; and filling those cracks in the pottery with gold. The symbolic nature of what once “was” would then be transformed into a stronger and more beautiful piece of art. The art that we’ve created with our Clients has been shaped by the contributions of past and present members of our team over the last 25 years. The Financial Crisis of 2008, the events surrounding the September 11 attacks, and more recent, the impact of COVID-19 on our economy and labor market have been the waves of change that we have had to navigate each time. At every corner we’ve turned and through the course of our time in practice, we thank our Clients, our family, friends, and colleagues for their never-ending support and confidence in the work that we do. We are incredibly grateful and pray for everyone’s continued safety and health as we navigate, together, during these times of uncertainty. As we move forward, we aim to be the beacon of the hope for those in need of our help. Simply put, the words of owner, Laurie Hamano, reminds us all to, “…look to the future with hope; we appreciate the past and what it has taught; and we hang on to the values we have that made us who we are.” We are exactly where we need to be; present in the tides that have changed with time to serve the people of Hawai’i.
